All things Spanish!

Madrid is a beautiful city – architecture, vino, cobblestone streets, tapas, flamenco and sunshine (especially when visiting from London!) – what more could you ask for?
So what a treat to be invited to this fab destination and experience firsthand all it has to offer.
In this industry, it’s important to know destinations – after all, we’re selling them to our clients.  Hotels, accessibility, venues, and cuisine – all these elements influence the location for our client’s meetings, incentive and events.  And that’s exactly what I experienced this weekend…
A welcome reception including Spanish tapas of meats, cheeses and plenty of wine at Hotel Auditorium, followed by a true Spanish evening of more Spanish tapas and wine at Vinoteca on the famous Santa Ana Plaza.
On Saturday we visited the lovely Melia Avenida America Hotel which is a great property for conferences and events – with 322 bedrooms, a magnificent convention centre centrally located mid-way between Barajas Airport and the city centre.   Our visit also included a delicious lunch at the hotel’s La Cheminée Restaurant to eat of course Paella….  A visit to Spain isn’t complete without Paella!  Our afternoon concluded with a 2 hour Segway tour of the city – a great way to see all the famous sights in a speedy and fun way. Our evening ended with a traditional flamenco show and a delicious Spanish dinner at ‘Las Carbonera’s.’
Our final day in the city consisted of an interesting walking tour and a stunning lunch at the ‘La Posada de la Villa’ which dates back to 1652.  This restaurant offers an array of delicately prepared Spanish cuisine, which makes my mouth water just by the thought!

Madrid is a city that is easily accessible and is perfect for meetings, conferences and incentives.  It offers good value for money, guaranteed good weather, friendly people and of course delicious food.  Highly recommended and must see destination!
