Destination Snapshot: Dubai
Always hungry for the best spots to offer our clients, Principal’s Rachel recently jumped at the opportunity to rediscover Dubai. With a jam packed schedule organised by our peers at Dubai Business Events, she set off on her adventure to discover more and see what’s on offer for corporate events and came back brimming with enthusiasm for the destination.
As everyone knows, Dubai is notorious for innovative technology, lavish surroundings, and year round sunshine. A unique metropolis, where the desert meets the sea, and bustling souks nestle between the world’s most futuristic malls and tallest buildings. These components alone make it a great destination for incentive travel, conferences and congresses, but what else is there to draw you to the city? We’ll tell you!
For a start, easy access lends itself perfectly as a destination of choice for delegates coming together from about the globe. 270 destinations over 6 continents fly to Dubai – it’s one of the busiest airports for international flights.
Once you’re here, you’ll see that Dubai is constantly renewing itself and currently boasts over 103,000 hotel rooms. There’s a huge assortment of venues and hotels for every size of conference and incentive, from central skyscrapers, to havens of tranquillity in the city to desert and beach resorts, all boasting the luxury you would expect of Dubai.
Get your delegates to the Burj Kahlifa, the tallest building in the world, before it’s knocked off its top spot by some other dizzyingly high skyscraper – Dubai has the 3rd most sky scrapers in one city sitting only behind Hong Kong and NYC.
2016 was a big year for the city, now host to a sustainable Safari Park, due to be home to almost 10,500 animals from around the world, including around 350 species of rare and endangered animals. Not content with this as a new development, come 2018, Dubai will open the world’s largest observation wheel on the island of Bluewaters and boasting panoramic views of the city and surrounding sea on a structure with a diameter of 122 metres.
There’s a plethora of fast paced adrenaline pumping activities such as dune bashing, quad biking or sea plane adventures. One of our favourite activities transports guests from the beach to the desert so that they can enjoy all of the desert activities under glorious blue skies. Guests then stay for the evening and dine under the stars in traditional tented surroundings. If adrenaline adventures don’t take your fancy, guests can take can take time to explore the traditional souqs to buy spices, gold and fabric, or head to the largest shopping centre in the world with over 1200 stores.
