My first Principal. site inspection
Milan. Mid August. Guaranteed hot sunshine for our first site inspection with Principal, we were sure of it. But as Laurel and I touched down on Italian soil for our overnight site visit, we were greeted with overcast skies and drizzle. The weather was better back in London! Undeterred, we sped through security and out to meet our charming driver Giorgio, who whisked us straight to the stunning 5 star deluxe Principe de Savoia Hotel.
The hotel is a gorgeous mix of classic Italian style with modern amenities and fantastic service. Our show-round of the hotel and its different spaces demonstrated that from the most basic to the most exclusive rooms, all were sumptuously decorated, with lovely little touches, including personalised items and Acqua di Parma products.
One of the most important parts of the trip was finalising the menus for three separate events. This meant that our evening was spent in restaurants, selecting wines and the food. This was no mean feat, as we had no less than 11 canapes to try, before even moving on to the starters! As someone who enjoys her food a great deal, this was a definite perk not only of the visit, but of a job organising Global Events with Principal. Stand out highlights included smoked salmon three ways, thinly sliced Fasona beef with cheese and basil cress, saffron risotto and more beef, this time perfectly cooked sirloin.
Our jam-packed schedule meant no free time for shopping or exploring Milan. But our whirlwind trip provided the necessary introduction to what life at Principal will involve, and the extensive preparation and onsite work carried out to ensure that the company continues to provide award-winning events for years to come.
